This Hong Kong’s first oyster hatchery is to:

  1. Develop, setup and demonstrate a hatchery technology to produce healthy seeds from fast-growing, nutritious and tasty Hong Kong oyster species; 

  2. Supply those healthy seeds to selected local growers (free of cost) to stimulate their interest and raise their confidence in the hatchery technology; 

  3. Use oyster hatchery as a model system to create eco-entrepreneurship opportunities for oyster growers or others who are interested in sustainable aquaculture; and 

  4. Use as training center for knowledge exchange as well as platform for developing innovative technologies- both is expected to have a visible economic impact in the region
